A downloadable game for Windows and Android

This is a recreation of John Romero's Dangerous Dave, a platformer game originally published on 1990 for MS-DOS.

It was made in 2 months as an exercise on creating a mobile game using Unreal Engine 5. Gameplay is not exactly the same as the original game but it is close enough.

The desktop version uses the mobile renderer so it should run well on almost any recent PC, the android version might not run well on weak phones.

Controls:

  • Move Right: Right, D, Gamepad Right
  • Move Left: Left, A, Gamepad Left
  • Jump / Move Up (Jetpack / Climbing): Up, W, Gamepad Up, Gamepad A (Face Button Bottom)
  • Move Down (Jetpack / Climbing): Down, S, Gamepad Down
  • Shoot: Left Mouse, Left Ctrl, Gamepad Y (Face Button Left)
  • Jetpack: Right Mouse, Alt, Gamepad B (Face Button Right)

Future updates may include bug fixes, graphics and performance improvements, and new features like global run time / high score leaderboards.

If you enjoy the game, donations are greatly appreciated. I want to develop my own games in the future.

Hello! At first glance, the game looks really great. Unfortunately, I couldn’t actually play it because the main character doesn’t display correctly, and it’s hard to understand where they’re supposed to move. I’m attaching screenshots so it’s clearer what I mean. I’m looking forward to future updates and improvements.

This happened with a friend's phone too. Do you have a mediatek cpu? My friend's phone was a Poco X7 with Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset

Have no idea yet what is causing this yet
